SILVIS, Ill. -- After one round of play the Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf team is tied for sixth place in the 19-team field at the NAIA Midwest Invitational at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Indiana Wesleyan's top four scorers combined for a 308 and that is tied with Dakota Wesleyan University for sixth place. Ashford (Iowa) University leads the field with a 292 while Mount Mercy (Iowa) University is two strokes back at 294. Marian (Ind.) University shot a 298, Grand View (Iowa) University scored a 299, and Nebraska Wesleyan University finished at 301 for third through fifth place, respectively.
Sophomore Dalton Miller continues his strong play as he led Indiana Wesleyan with a two-over par, 73. Miller ranks sixth of 100 golfers following 18-holes of competition.
The next three Wildcats were all within three strokes of each other. Junior Tyler Keith is tied for 26th with a 77, freshman Peter Kaufmann is tied for 32nd at 78, and freshman Trey Cox shot an 80 and is tied for 45th place. The fifth Wildcat was junior Zach Kinch who shot an 89 for 91st position.
The second round of the NAIA Midwest Invitational commences at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
