MARION, Ind. (Bracket) -- Indiana Wesleyan University learned their seed and First Round opponent tonight for the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship in Point Lookout, Missouri on March 6-12. The team watched the NAIA Selection Show tonight in the team's locker room.
The Wildcats were seeded No. 7 in the 32-team field. IWU will play Lourdes (Ohio) University in the NAIA National Championship First Round at 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 7. The Wildcats are the No. 7-seed despite being ranked No. 6 or higher all year.
Indiana Wesleyan earned an automatic bid to the national tournament by winning the Crossroads League regular season championship, their fifth consecutive. Indiana Wesleyan is 25-6 on the season and will be in the tournament for the sixth time in program history and fifth consecutive.
Lourdes earned an invitation to Point Lookout with the final at-large selection. The Gray Wolves were the first team in the receiving votes section of the final poll released earlier tonight with a 22-9 record. Lourdes finished third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and will be in their second straight national tournament.
The Round of 16 will be contested on Friday and the Quarterfinals on Saturday. Sunday will be an off day before the Semifinals are played on Monday. The National Championship will be played at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
