GENEVA, Ohio -- Four more Wildcats competed today for Indiana Wesleyan University at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The only final for the four Wildcats on Friday was the Women's Long Jump. Allix Miller competed in the 21 jumper field and placed 17th overall. She earned a long leap of 16 feet 8.75 inches (5.10-meters).
Indiana Wesleyan featured two participants in the Men's 60-Meter Hurdles with Jake Smith and Andy Lipiec. The duo would first compete in prelims at 1:20 p.m. Smith qualified for the semifinals with his third place finish in his heat at 8.23 seconds. Lipiec was sixth in the same heat and missed one of the additional qualifying spots by just .01 seconds as he crossed the line in 8.33 seconds.
Smith returned at 2:40 p.m. for the semifinals where the top eight would qualify for the finals on Saturday. Smith raced to a time of 8.31 seconds to finish eighth in his heat and 15th in the semifinals.
Andrew Albert took part in the Men's 3000-Meter Run prelims at 5:45 p.m. tonight. Albert finished 25th overall out of 27 runners in the prelims. He did not qualify for Saturday's finals and finished in a time of 8:57.83.
Saturday is the final day of competition at the NAIA National Championships. Highlighting the final day for Indiana Wesleyan will be three Wildcats in two event finals. Tina Huffman will compete in the Women's Shot Put at 10 a.m. while Kyle Abney and James Allen will throw in the Men's Shot Put at 1 p.m.
