WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Grace (Ind.) College on Saturday afternoon in Winona Lake, Indiana.

With the win, the Wildcats earned at least a share of the Mid-Central College Conference championship. Indiana Wesleyan is now 7-0 this fall with one conference match remaining. Marian (Ind.) College is 6-1.

The Wildcats (11-0) began the afternoon with a sweep in doubles competition.

The No. 1-doubles team of senior Brittany Raymond and Kristi Haddad earned the point for Indiana Wesleyan with an 8-2 win. A pair of freshman, Eva Delk and Lisa Massey, captured the win in No. 2-doubles with an 8-4 win while the No. 3-doubles pair of sophomore Courtney Kooyers and junior Laura Helm also won 8-4.

Indiana Wesleyan junior Julia Hedgebeth dropped her No. 1-singles match in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6. But the Wildcats won the other five singles matches in straight sets for the victory. Delk was victorious 6-2, 6-0 and Raymond won 6-2, 6-1. Massey won No. 4-singles 6-4, 6-2, Haddad earned a point with a 6-0, 7-5 win and Kooyers won No. 6-singles 6-1, 6-2.

Indiana Wesleyan looks to remain perfect in the MCC with their final conference match at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, as the Wildcats travel to play Huntington (Ind.) University.
