DEFIANCE, Ohio -- In non-conference action Tuesday night the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis team defeated host Defiance (Ohio) College by a 7-2 margin.
In six of the nine matches, the Wildcats did not surrender a point to the Yellow Jackets.
The No. 2-doubles team of junior Julia Hedgebeth and junior Laura Helm along with the No. 3-doubles team of sophomore Courtney Kooyers and sophomore Megan Bollier each won 8-0. Freshman Lisa Massey, Kooyers, Bollier and freshman Danielle Moorton were all victorious by shutouts of 6-0, 6-0 in singles action.
Freshman Eva Delk also earned a point for Indiana Wesleyan in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The No. 1-doubles pair of Delk and Massey were defeated 8-5 while Hedgebeth lost 6-2, 7-5 in No. 1-singles.
The 7-2 victory pushes the Wildcats season record to 9-0 this season and also gives head coach Terry Porter his 499th career win as the men’s and women’s tennis coach at Indiana Wesleyan.
Coach Porter goes for win No. 500 at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, as Indiana Wesleyan hosts Anderson (Ind.) University at the Sutter Tennis Center.
