MARION, Ind. -- Highlighting the postseason awards for the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s tennis team was sophomore Kyle Johnson being selected as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention pick.
The East Moline, Illinois product becomes just the second Wildcat to earn NAIA All-American status. Jakub Petersson was the only other Wildcat before Johnson to earn the honor when he was named First Team in 2003.
Johnson played a key role for the Wildcats successful season in 2012-13. He played doubles in all 27 matches for the Wildcats this season and in 26 singles matches.
He was the No. 1-singles player for Indiana Wesleyan and built an impressive record of 20-6. He also competed on the top doubles team for Indiana Wesleyan and maintained a record of 18-9.
Johnson and the Wildcats concluded the season with a record of 19-8 and tied for the Crossroads League regular season championship with a mark of 7-1. Indiana Wesleyan advanced to the NCCAA National Championship earlier this month in Mobile, Alabama.
