INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The men’s and women’s cross teams each won the Mid-Central College Conference championship for Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday at Indianapolis, Indiana.

Despite strong performances from the Wildcats, each team had to claw their way to a narrow victory. The men edged Huntington (Ind.) University, 39-41 to win the championship. The women earned a 34-38 victory over Spring Arbor (Mich.) University to complete the sweep.

The No. 4-ranked women placed six runners on the All-Conference team to claim the conference championship. Senior Emily LaSala won the individual conference title with a time of 18:33. Also earning all-conference were freshman Melissa Morgan (19:24) in sixth, senior Ashley Bucher (19:31) in eighth, sophomore Kailee Whitaker (19:35) in ninth, sophomore Jessica Moffitt (19:43) in 10th and sophomore Laura Dziagwa (19:43) was 12th.

Junior Sarah Lacy (19:46), freshman Cassidy Wagner (19:47) and junior Christy Bea (19:49) were 13th, 14th and 15th place, respectively, just missing all-conference status.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, November 3, as the Wildcats compete in the NAIA Region VIII Championships, being held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
