GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Three Wildcats earned the right to play for USTA-ITA Midwest Regional Tournament championships on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Rachel Bottorff won her fifth singles match this weekend Saturday morning by a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 score over the No. 2-seed from Aquinas (Mich.) to earn a spot in the regional championship match. Bottorff would fall just short of the bid to the national tournament as she lost 7-5, 6-3 to the No. 4-seed from Davenport (Mich.).

In doubles, the second seeded team of Katie Wilson and Kim Mella easily defeated the No. 3-seed from Marian (Ind.) to advance to the regional final. Like Bottorff, the Indiana Wesleyan doubles team fell one win shy of the national tournament as they lost 8-3 to the No. 1-seed from Davenport.

Wilson had also qualified for the consolation singles semifinals but withdrew due to injury.

Indiana Wesleyan will return to team competition this week at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. IWU will battle Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.) in Upland, Indiana.
