GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Three Wildcats were still competing for Indiana Wesleyan University men’s tennis on Saturday at the USTA-ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The No. 5-seed of Kyle Johnson and Brandon Dubuque won the semifinal match in the doubles draw this morning by an 8-5 score versus their Davenport (Mich.) opponent to reach the finals. A victory would give the Johnson and Dubuque tandem a trip to the national tournament in October. The Indiana Wesleyan pair would fall one win shy of a trip to Fort Myers, Florida as the No. 3-seeded team from Northwestern Ohio pulled out a 9-7 victory.

Gavin White was still alive in the singles tournament in the Consolation Bracket. White won his first match 6-2, 6-3 against a Davenport player in the semifinal round and finished the weekend with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 victory over a Marian player to win the consolation bracket.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to team competition this week at 4 p.m. on Tuesday as IWU hosts rival Taylor (Ind.) at the Sutter Tennis Center.
