MARION, Ind. -- The All-Crossroads League team was named today for women’s tennis and it was littered with Indiana Wesleyan University student-athletes. Recognized on the All-League team were: Katie Wilson, Rachel Bottorff, Kim Mella, and Kristen Futrell.
Indiana Wesleyan wrapped up its 22nd consecutive Crossroads League championship this season. IWU won the regular season title with an 8-0 record and then captured the tournament championship on Saturday. Overall, Indiana Wesleyan was 16-0 to extend their win streak to 240 straight matches during the fall season.
Wilson was the team’s No. 1-singles player and she compiled an 11-2 record from the top spot. Bottorff was 15-0 on the season with 12 wins at the No. 2 position and the other three at the first spot. Mella went 8-2 at No. 4-singles while Futrell was 12-0 with 11 wins at No. 5-singles and the other at No. 3.
Wilson and Mella was the No. 1-doubles tandem for Indiana Wesleyan and the duo went 15-0 at that position. Bottorff and Futrell also went 15-0 as a team with 14 wins at No. 2-doubles and one win at the top position.
Indiana Wesleyan completed the fall with a 5-4 victory over Marian (Ind.) in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship and will resume play in the spring. IWU will play in the NAIA National Tournament in May.
