MARION, Ind. -- Rae Brandes and Rebecca Brandes netted three of the four Crossroads League Player of the Week honors, two days after winning the Crossroads League Tournament championship.
Rae was named Crossroads League Player of the Week for the third time in 2013 and the Hitter of the Week for the fourth time. Rebecca earned Crossroads League Libero of the Week recognition for the fifth time this season.
Last week, Indiana Wesleyan won the Crossroads League Tournament with three victories over five days. Indiana Wesleyan defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) in the First Round, Taylor (Ind.) in the Semifinals, and Bethel (Ind.) in the Championship. All three wins were by 3-0 outcomes.
Rae finished the tournament with three double-doubles in kills and digs. Her best performance came in the championship match at Bethel where she had week-highs of 18 kills and 16 digs. She averaged 4.56 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set for the Wildcats.
Rebecca continued her stellar play in the back row as the Wildcat libero as she averaged 5.56 digs per set. Her top performance during the league tournament came on Saturday with a week-best 20 digs.
Indiana Wesleyan will now await its fate for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. Their opponent and site will be revealed next Monday by the NAIA national office. Check iwuwildcats.com for further information as it becomes available.
