GOSHEN, Ind. -- With a 1-0 victory at Goshen (Ind.) College on Saturday night the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s soccer team claimed the Mid-Central College Conference regular season championship.

David Lopez-Cepero tallied the lone goal of the match at the 30:15 mark. That was all goalkeeper Spencer Lang would need as he recorded four saves in net for the shutout win.

A Maple Leaf victory would have created a tie atop the MCC standings and give Goshen home-field advantage throughout the conference tournament via the head-to-head win. But the Wildcats completed the conference season with a 7-1-0 mark while Goshen finished third in the MCC with a record of 5-3-0.

The regular season championship is the second in as many years for Indiana Wesleyan. But this time the title is all Indiana Wesleyan’s as last year the Wildcats tied Goshen for the league championship.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, October 27, as the Wildcats will host Grace (Ind.) College in the first round of the MCC Tournament.
