MARION, Ind. -- Morgan Smith is the second person to sign for the 2014-15 school year to continue her women’s tennis career at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Smith is from Bremen, Indiana and attends Bremen High School. She is starting her fourth year on the varsity tennis team where she will be playing the No. 1-singles position. Over the three previous years she has a record of 60-4 with All-Conference honors and team MVP and Most Wins. The past two years she has been All-State Honorable Mention, All-District in singles, and captain of her team.
Smith has been involved in many extra-curricular activities during her high school years. Some of these are: volleyball, Student Council Treasurer and Vice-President, Key Club, National Honor Society Vice President, Awakened Compassionate Teens, Fellowship for Christian Athletes, 4-H, Freshmen Mentor, and Class Treasurer.
Smith has also received many honors and awards. Some of these are as follows: Awarded Outstanding Student in many subjects (especially math and science), Distinguished Honor Roll, invited to the Richard Lugar Symposium, invited to the IHSAA Leadership Conference, and Student Athlete of the Week for Channel 46. Her GPA is 4.016 and she is ranked number two in her class. Her hobbies are reading, watching NCIS and CSI, and tennis plus more tennis.
“Morgan is a very bright and talented young lady,” said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Terry Porter. “She will make an immediate impact on our team both on and off the court. She has great leadership qualities and a wonderful personality. She is a perfect fit at Indiana Wesleyan.”
Smith plans on majoring in Pre-Med/Biochemistry at Indiana Wesleyan.
