MARION, Ind. -- Josie Gray is the fifth person to sign for the 2014-15 school year to continue her women’s tennis career at Indiana Wesleyan.
Gray is from Nashville, Indiana and attends Brown County High School. During her four years on the varsity tennis team, she played mainly No. 1-singles and No. 1-doubles. Her individual career record was 58-14 and was All-Conference and team MVP the past three years. She was undefeated in the regular season in her senior year.
Gray has been involved in many extra-curricular activities during her high school years. Some of these are: National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Student Government, Student Council President, soccer team, Class President, and Student Cheer Block organizer. She has also been active in the Parkview Church youth group and the Young Life youth group.
Gray has also received many honors and awards. Some these are as follows: Hoosier Girls State Candidate (one of the two representatives from the county), We the People (made it to the state competition), and Honor Roll Student all four years.
“Josie is a very special young lady,” said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Terry Porter. “It is easy to see that she will be a tremendous leader on our team. Her high school coach said that Josie is a great kid who leads by example, has fun, laughs a lot, but works hard and competes even harder. We are really fortunate to have her for the next four years.”
Gray plans on majoring in Business and Marketing at Indiana Wesleyan.
