BALTIMORE, MD. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer team was recognized at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America convention this past week in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Wildcats were honored for academics, sportsmanship and for their play on the field.

The NSCAA awarded Indiana Wesleyan with the Team Academic Award. IWU finished with a team GPA of 3.51 for the 2006-07 season.

Indiana Wesleyan was also recognized with the NSCAA Ethics Award. The Wildcats earn the acknowledgment with superior behavior and sportsmanship on the field of play.

The women’s soccer team was also presented with plaques commemorating their final rankings in the national polls. IWU finished No. 1 in the NCCAA and No. 12 in the NAIA.

Two members of the Wildcat team were also acknowledged for individual achievements. Senior defender Gretchen Breckner was recognized at the convention as a member of the NSCAA/NCCAA All-American First Team while head coach, Dr. John Bratcher, received a plaque that honored him as the NSCAA/NCCAA Division I National Coach of the Year.

Indiana Wesleyan finished the 2007 season with a 21-2-1 record and captured the NCCAA national championship.
