MARION, Ind. -- School records were broken and individuals qualified for the NAIA national meet in the first indoor track meet of the season for Indiana Wesleyan University.

The non-scoring meet was held in the brand new Indoor Sports Complex. It was the first track meet held in the new athletic facility on campus.

The 4 x 200-meter relay team of junior Duran Brown, senior Zach Weber, sophomore Thomas Collette and freshman Derek Gay set a new Indiana Wesleyan indoor record with a time of one minute 32.95 seconds.

Junior John Bowman broke two indoor records in the shot put and weight throw. Bowman tossed the shot put a record 48 feet 1/2 inches and the weight throw 53-1 1/2 feet.

Qualifying for the NAIA national meet were Bowman in the weight throw (53-1 1/2 feet), Weber in the high jump (6-8 feet) and 60-meter hurdles (8.55) and junior Josh Foss in the one-mile run (4:23.8).

Indiana Wesleyan returns to the track at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 26 at the Wabash Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
