CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- In the first scoring meet of the season the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s indoor track and field team earned a third place finish out of seven teams at the Wabash College Alumni Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

IWU scored 48.5 points while University of Indianapolis (Ind.) won the event with 144 points.

The Wildcats earned a second and third place in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Janelle Pierce crossed the finish line in second with a time of two minutes 28.22 seconds. Senior Chelsey Horkman was third in 2:38.

Freshman Katelin Morgan completed the afternoon with a pair of second place finishes. Highlighting the day for Indiana Wesleyan was Morgan’s long jump, which qualified her for the NAIA national meet.

Morgan earned a mark of 17 feet 3 ½ inches in the finals to wrap up second place. She also was runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.25 seconds.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to the track at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, as the Wildcats compete in the Taylor Invitational in Upland, Indiana.
