
MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women’s indoor track and field team defeated seven other teams en route to winning the IWU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Indoor Sports Complex.
The Wildcats gained 223.5 points as they outdistanced themselves from second place Siena Heights (Mich.) University, which ended with 165 points.
Two Wildcats qualified for the NAIA national meet in three events.
Freshman Katelin Morgan qualified in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles. Morgan’s long jump was marked at 18 feet 4 1/2 inches. She won the event by more than half a foot. She completed the hurdles in a time of 9.28 seconds, good for second place. Morgan now owns the school record in both events.
Sophomore Laura Bowman’s automatic qualifying time in the 60-meter sprint was also a new program record. She finished in a time of 8.06 seconds.
