MARION, Ind. -- A relay team and five members of the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s indoor track and field team qualified for the NAIA national meet during Saturday’s IWU Invitational at the Outdoor Sports Complex.

Qualifying for the NAIA Nationals in individual events were junior John Bowman in the shot put (50 feet 9.25 inches) and weight throw (50-6 1/4 feet), junior Josh Foss in the mile run (four minutes 20.58 seconds), junior Bryan Hazel in the 3,000-meter run (8:50.17), senior Josh Miller in the 800-meter run (1:56.08) and senior Zach Weber in the 60-meter hurdles (8.35 seconds) and high jump (6-6 feet).

The distance medley relay team consisting of freshman Jason Wenzel, Weber, Miller and Foss also qualified for Nationals. The Wildcats completed the event in a time of 10:17.03.

Indiana Wesleyan placed second in the seven team field with 170 points. Siena Heights (Mich.) University won the invitational with a tally of 204 points.

Indiana Wesleyan will host another indoor track and field meet at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 16 in the Outdoor Sports Complex.
