MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men’s indoor track and field team slipped by Lindenwood (Mo.) University by six points to capture the IWU Invitational on Saturday afternoon in the new Indoor Sports Complex.

The Wildcats finished with 174 points, six points better than Lindenwood with 168 points.

Three student-athletes automatically qualified for the NAIA national meet while also breaking program records.

Junior Josh Foss finished the mile run in four minutes 15.34 seconds, breaking an IWU record held since 1989 by nearly two seconds.

Senior John Miller ran the 800-meter run in 1:54.88 to qualify for nationals and break a school record. The school record was a week old, previously broken by Foss at 1:56.08.

Junior John Bowman broke his own school record from last weekend with a throw of 52 feet one inch in the shot put. Last week, Bowman earned a mark of 51-6 feet.

Next week the Wildcats will compete in the NCCAA Championships at 11 a.m. in Cedarville, Ohio.
