MARION, Ind. -- Lauren Zimmer will continue her soccer career at Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall of 2008.

Zimmer led William Fremd High School to the Illinois state finals in class AA this season. Fremd was also a state semi-finalist in 2005.

“Lauren has received valuable experience while playing for a highly competitive high school team. Coupled with her years of Olympic Development Program soccer and club competition, Lauren is expected to be an immediate contributor for the Wildcats,” said IWU head coach Dr. John Bratcher.

The Palatine, Illinois native was a midfielder and forward in high school. But her size and presence will make her a versatile player for Indiana Wesleyan.

“Although Lauren has mainly played midfield and forward to this point, I am excited about her defensive ability as she may play a defensive role as a freshman,” quoted Bratcher. “Her size will give us a physical presence in the back.”

Indiana Wesleyan finished 21-2-1 in 2007 en route to winning the NCCAA national championship.
