MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team has signed Abbie Forman to a NAIA letter of intent to continue her playing career in 2008-09.

A Michigan All-State Honorable Mention player a year ago, Forman earned 21 wins on the mound with a 0.85 earned run average and a county-high 290 strikeouts during her junior season. At the plate, she hit .439 with two home runs and 49 RBIs.

“I am excited to have a player of Abbie Forman's caliber becoming a member of the Indiana Wesleyan University Softball program,” said IWU head coach Sue Bowman.

“Abby is not only successful on the field, but she is outstanding in the classroom. Abby's strength is pitching, but she is an also an outstanding offensive player. It will be hard to keep Abby off the playing field because she is such a utility player. I am looking forward to having her leadership on our field.”

Forman is a four year letter winner at Lenawee Christian School in Adrian, Michigan. She also participates during the summer with the Adrian Lookouts who have won three NSA Michigan state championships while placing second in the World Series in 2006.

When not pitching, Forman shows versatility as she can play any position on the diamond.

Outside of softball, Forman is a member of National Honor Society, student council and Big Brother Big Sister.
