MARION, Ind. -- For a record 18th consecutive year No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan will play in the NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship which beings today with First Round action in Mobile, Alabama.

Since the current team format was instituted in 2000, Indiana Wesleyan is the only program to reach the national championship all 18 years. IWU has a 12-17 all-time record at the tournament and last season made it to the national quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

This season, Indiana Wesleyan is the No. 10-seed and plays in the opening round vs. No. 23-seed Asbury (Ky.), champion of the River States Athletic Conference. The match begins later today at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The 24-team format gives the top-eight seeds First Round byes into the Second Round. If Indiana Wesleyan wins on Tuesday, they advance to the Second Round vs. No. 7 Xavier (La.) at 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Xavier defeated Indiana Wesleyan 5-4 earlier this season on February 18 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It was the fourth match in two days for the Wildcats-- all vs. top-25 teams.

The tournament plays one round per day culminating in the national championship match on Saturday afternoon.
