MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan received the No. 9-seed as the national office released the 2017 NAIA Softball World Series Bracket on Wednesday night. The 10-team double-elimination tournament is May 26-June 1 in Clermont, Florida.

Indiana Wesleyan became just the second No. 4-seed to win an Opening Round tournament to reach the final site. Hours later, Ottawa (Kan.) became the third No. 4-seed to advance and was given the No. 10-seed. IWU went a perfect 3-0 in the Bowling Green Bracket with two wins over top-seed and No. 9-ranked Saint Francis (Ill.) and one win over No. 2-seed and No. 11-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) to earn the bid to the World Series.

No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 8 Southern Oregon face off on the opening day of the tournament on May 26. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET. The winning team advances to play No. 1-seed Oklahoma City (Okla.) on Saturday night.

Indiana Wesleyan has reached the 10-team World Series for the first time since the NAIA went with the Opening Round format in 2013. The Wildcats’ only appearance at the final site came in 2012 in the last season before Opening Round play was introduced and all 32 teams went to one site.
