SILVIS, Ill. -- The NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship adjusted the tournament schedule late Wednesday night since the afternoon session was unable to finish due to weather.

Instead of the cut happening after the third round, the cut will now be made following the completion of the second round which happens Thursday morning.

“Right now Jake is tied for 100th place,” IWU head coach Lorne Oke said before second round play restarted on Thursday. “That will improve when everyone finishes round two but it will not get him to the top 40.”

The top 17 teams and the top 40 individuals make the cut at the NAIA National Championship. When play was suspended on Wednesday night, Coffey had completed play during the morning session and was tied for 100th place with a 36-hole score of 159 (78-81).

“Really disappointed that weather delays shortened the cut length from 54 holes to 36 holes,” said Oke. “But that is the reality of tournament golf. I’m very proud of Jake because of his outstanding career and the way he represented Indiana Wesleyan. We will really miss him.”
