
MARION, Ind. -- Junior shortstop Morgan Wheeler of the Indiana Wesleyan University softball team has been named the Mid-Central College Conference and NAIA Region VIII Player of the Week. Wheeler was also tagged as the NCCAA National Student-Athlete of the Week.
Wheeler helped guide the Wildcats to a 5-1 week. IWU swept Grace (Ind.) College and Indiana Tech, while splitting a doubleheader with Cedarville (Ohio) University.
The Rockville, Indiana native hit .500 during the week as she earned 12 hits in 24 at bats. She had a .958 slugging percentage after connecting on two home runs and five doubles. Wheeler had 10 RBIs and scored eight runs.
The honor is the first this season for Wheeler and the second for a Wildcat.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 as the Wildcats travel to play conference foe Huntington (Ind.) University.
