MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball boasts three alumni that are playing professional baseball in 2017. 

Sam Lewis was at IWU from 2009-12 and is a right handed pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks system. Lewis is currently playing in Single-A with the Kane County Cougars. He boasts a 3-1 record with a 4.08 ERA in 24 appearances, three of those are starts. Lewis has 50 strikeouts in 53.0 innings and boasts a 1.25 WHIP.

Derek Shomon played during the 2016 season for the Wildcats. He is a catcher and first baseman with the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League. Shomon connected on his first home run on May 23.

Outfielder Brandon Shaffer just graduated from Indiana Wesleyan following the 2017 season. He has signed on with the Utica Unicorns of the United Shore Professional Baseball League. In his first professional at bat, Shaffer his a home run vs. the Westside Woolly Mammoths on July 1.
