MARION, Ind. – The next three days features a lot of tennis at Indiana Wesleyan University and Grant County as the ITA Midwest Regional Championships will be in town.

The three-day championship is September 14-16 with a majority of the matches at the Sutter Tennis Center on campus at Indiana Wesleyan. Taylor University and Marion High School will also host matches on Thursday.

There are 64-player brackets for both the men’s and women’s singles players and 32-team brackets for men’s and women’s doubles teams. Besides the main draws for singles and doubles, there will be ‘B’ brackets and consolation brackets for players/teams that lose in the opening round of the main brackets.

Indiana Wesleyan is well represented at the championships as the men’s team earned three seeds while the women racked up eight seeds.

For the men, Eli Steiner is the No. 4-seed and Daniel Zolnikov is the No. 7-seed in the singles draw. The freshmen tandem make up the No. 3-seed in doubles.

The women’s team has six Wildcats that earned a top-16 seed. Alex Mella is the No. 2 overall seed in singles while Lizzie Bauss is No. 3. Thewuni Devaraja is the No. 8-seed, Laura Moore is the No. 10-seed, Oliva Reed is the No. 15-seed, and Marissa Klein is the No. 16-seed.

IWU has two of the top three seeded teams in doubles at the championship. Mella and Bauss earned the top-seed while Devaraja and Reed are the No. 3-seed.
