IWU defeated four ranked teams at the NAIA Classic.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University golf earned an impressive fifth place finish at the NAIA Classic at the Brickyard Crossings Golf Course in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Indiana Wesleyan placed fifth with a two-day total of 614 (308-306) in the 14 team events. The tournament, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, featured eight teams ranked in the NAIA top-25 poll.

No. 6-ranked Berry (Ga.) College defeated No. 7-ranked Lindenwood (Mo.) University in a playoff as both team finished with a score of 606. Berry (298-308) held on to win the Classic as Lindenwood (315-291) charged into contention after being in seventh place following the first round.

No. 14-ranked Texas Wesleyan University finished third with a 607 (302-305) and No. 15-ranked Malone (Ohio) College ended in fourth with a 611 (307-304).

No. 17-ranked Shorter (Ga.) College was seventh with a 617 (316-301), No. 16-ranked Davenport (Mich.) University placed ninth with a score of 619 (305-314), No. 11-ranked Saint Ambrose (Iowa) University ended 10th at 631 (324-307) and No. 25-ranked William Woods (Mo.) University was 14th with a two-day total 642 (325-317).

Sophomore Austin Conroy tied for ninth in the Classic with a two round total of 151 (80-71). Freshman Adlai Deisler finished tied for 14th with a score of 152 (78-74) and senior Ben Brodhead was tied for 19th with a 153 (73-80).

Sophomore Brandon Whitmire ended tied for 45th with a mark of 160 (79-81) and sophomore Joseph Madda was 50th with a 161 (78-83).

Cedarville's Trevor Bowman won medalist honors with a four-over par, 148 (73-75).
