Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer seniors J.P. Bratcher and David Reed will continue their soccer careers this summer in the Premier Developmental League.
Bratcher, who scored four goals and assisted eight goals in his senior year at IWU, will play with the Cascade Surge in Salem, Oregon. Bratcher is a graduate of Marion High School.
"It is exciting," said Bratcher of playing in the PDL. "I really don't know what to expect. It's obviously going to be different than college soccer. I've played with the same guys for the last four years, but I'm excited to meet some new guys from out West."
Reed will look to continue to be a defensive anchor as he joins the Kalamazoo Outrage in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
"For me, it's just a winding up of my career," Reed said. "I'm an accounting major and I already have a job lined up. I'm basically just finishing up my career at center back."
Reed is looking forward to the chance to get to play with NCAA Division I players.
"We have guys from IU and some guys from Western Michigan," said Reed. "It will be exciting to play at another level and to see how I compare as well as being able to witness to them with my walk."
Bratcher will travel with the Cascade to Austria during the summer where he will compete in camps, indoor tournaments and exhibition games with the Surge's Austrian club affiliation.
"We'll [the Cascade Surge] be going over to Austria for about ten days," Bratcher said. "We're going to play some professional teams over there, so we'll get some international experience. I'm excited for the whole summer."
Bratcher and Reed will participate in their respective teams 16 game schedule through the month of July. The PDL is a developmental league for the United Soccer Leagues.
