MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University earned a third place finish at the NCCAA National Championships this weekend which held in Marion, Indiana.

Malone (Ohio) College edged Cedarville (Ohio) University, 158-152, to earn the national championship. Indiana Wesleyan tallied a team score of 126 while fellow MCC rival Bethel (Ind.) College was fourth with 113 points.

Indiana Wesleyan senior Emily LaSala was the lone Wildcat to earn individual honors as she defeated the field in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs.

LaSala earned a six second victory in the 5,000-meter run as she crossed the finish line in 17 minutes 50.20 seconds. In the 10,000-meter run, LaSala pulled away for a convincing 11 second win in a finishing time of 37:55.39.

Freshman Katelin Morgan contributed four top-five finishes for the Wildcats. Morgan placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.09 and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.00 seconds. In field events, Morgan earned third in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet 1.5 inches and fifth in the triple jump at 33-10.25 feet.

Sophomore Laura Bowman secured a pair of runner-up finishes in sprint events. Bowman completed the 100-meter dash in 12.44 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 25.44 seconds.

Indiana Wesleyan will next compete on Saturday, May 10 at the Bill Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
