MOBILE, Ala. -- Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University downed the Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team in the second round of the 2008 NAIA National Championship on Tuesday morning in Mobile, Alabama.

The second-seeded Sunbirds dispatched the Wildcats 5-0 to advance to the national quarterfinals and improve their record to 20-1. Indiana Wesleyan's season comes to a close with an impressive 25-4 tally, the second most wins in the program's history (IWU went 27-4 in 2005).

Indiana Wesleyan lost 8-0 in No. 1 and No. 2-doubles play and 8-1 in No. 3-doubles as the Wildcats trailed 3-0 in the match. Fresno Pacific continued their dominance in singles play with 6-0, 6-0 victories in No. 3 and No. 4-singles to wrap up the match win.

Highlighting the Indiana Wesleyan season was the Wildcats 16th consecutive Mid-Central College Conference championship as they extended their win streak during the fall regular season to 159 matches. Indiana Wesleyan also captured their second consecutive NCCAA championship and fourth in six seasons.
