
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's track and field team sits fourth after the second day of the NAIA Track National Championships being held in St. Louis, Missouri.
Indiana Wesleyan is tied with Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University with 23 points while British Columbia (Canada) University leads the meet with 31 points. Oklahoma Baptist University is second with 26 points and Concordia (Ore.) University is third with 25 points.
Highlighting day two for the Wildcats was a national championship in the 4 x 800-meter relay team consisting of freshman Jason Wenzel, senior Jason Slabaugh, senior Josh Miller and junior Josh Foss. The team earned 10 points for Indiana Wesleyan as they ran a time of seven minutes 33.53 seconds for the victory.
Senior Zach Weber has garnered points for Indiana Wesleyan in two events thus far. Weber earned seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.66 seconds and eighth in the high jump in a mark of six feet nine inches.
Sophomore Thomas Collet continued the Wildcats' strong performance in the field events as he placed sixth in the long jump. Collet earned a mark of 23-2.5 feet. In addition to Weber's high jump and Collet's long jump, junior John Bowman earned fourth in the hammer throw on the opening day.
The final Wildcat to score for the men through day two was senior Elias Rojas. Rojas finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 31:13.89.
On the women's side, the Wildcats are currently tied for 30th with four points.
Earning all four points for the Indiana Wesleyan women is senior Emily LaSala. She earned four points with a fifth place finish in the 10,000-meter run. She crossed the line in a time of 36:15.24.
Indiana Wesleyan completes the national meet on Saturday.
