MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team captured an 8-1 victory on Tuesday at home against Huntington (Ind.) University.

The Wildcats began with a sweep in doubles competition to earn a 3-0 lead before winning five out of six singles matches.

The No. 1-doubles tandem of junior Ben Bischoff and senior Luke Wright cruised to an 8-1 win while No. 2-doubles junior Carson VandenBossche and sophomore Matt Pedersen earned an 8-0 shutout. The No. 3-doubles team of sophomore Micah May and freshman Luke Montgomery completed the sweep with a 9-7 win.

In singles competition, Indiana Wesleyan won the top two competitions and the last three as well.

Pedersen (6-1, retire) and Bischoff (6-2, 6-2) earned wins for the Wildcats in No. 1 and No. 2-singles. Wright (6-1, 6-1), May (6-2, 6-2) and Montgomery (6-2, 6-0) also earned a point for Indiana Wesleyan.

The Wildcats are now 1-0 this season and 1-0 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Huntington drops to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, as the Wildcats host MCC foe Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
