MARION, Ind. -- Matt Pedersen of the Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team has been named NCCAA National Tennis Player of the Week.

Pedersen, a sophomore and No. 1-singles player for IWU, was given the honor after a runner-up performance in the men's singles play at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in Cedarville, Ohio.

He was the No. 2-seed in the tournament and won four matches in two days to reach the final, where he was defeated by the top-seed.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, as the Wildcats battle Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
