MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team will be well represented in all nine Mid-Central College Conference tennis tournament finals on Saturday afternoon.
After going unbeaten in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, the Wildcats repeated the effort on Friday during the semifinals.
The Wildcats six singles players and three doubles teams all advanced to the finals on Friday afternoon with victories in the semifinal round. The MCC semifinals and finals are being played at the Sutter Tennis Center.
Sophomore Matt Pedersen (No. 2 seed) will play in the No. 1-singles final following a 6-2, 6-3 victory on Friday. Junior Ben Bischoff (No. 2 seed) advanced with a 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 2-singles and junior Carson VandenBossche (No. 2 seed) won 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the No. 3-singles final.
Senior Luke Wright (No. 2 seed) advances in No. 4-singles play with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory while No. 5-singles top-seed, sophomore Micah May, earned a 6-2, 6-3 win. Freshman Luke Montgomery (No. 2 seed) completed the IWU sweep in singles action with a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 6 competition.
In doubles, top-seeded Wright and Bischoff advanced to the finals in No. 1 play with an 8-4 mark. Pedersen and VandenBossche, the No. 2 seed in No. 2-doubles, continue on with an 8-3 victory while the No. 3-doubles tandem of May and Montgomery (No. 1 seed) pulled out an 8-6 victory.
The Wildcats lead the MCC tournament with 18 points while Taylor (Ind.) University is a distant second place with 10 points.
Indiana Wesleyan will battle in all nine MCC Tournament finals at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 11 at the Sutter Tennis Center.
