MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team claimed their second Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship in three years on Saturday morning at the Sutter Tennis Center.

Indiana Wesleyan was represented in all nine championship matches on Saturday and won five individual conference titles.

The Wildcats cruised to the conference championship with 23 points as Taylor (Ind.) University finished a distant second with 13 points.

Carson VandenBossche (No. 2seed) defeated the No. 1-seed 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3-singles while Luke Wright (No. 2 seed) upended the top seed 5-3, retire to win No. 4-singles. No. 5-singles top seed, Micah May, garnered a 6-3, 6-3 victory and Luke Montgomery (No. 2 seed) earned the No. 6-singles championship with a 6-1, 7-6 win.

Matt Pedersen (No. 2 seed) dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to the top seed in No. 1-singles as did Ben Bischoff with a 6-4, 6-3 loss in No. 2-singles.

In doubles, Indiana Wesleyan brought home one of three MCC titles, which was the No. 3 tandem of May and Montgomery. They earned a hard-fought 9-8 victory.

The No. 1 duo of Wright and Bischoff lost a heartbreaker, 9-8, while the Wildcats' No. 2 team of Pedersen and VandenBossche lost 8-4.

Four Indiana Wesleyan student-athletes were also named to the MCC All-Conference team in a ceremony following tournament play. Pedersen, Bischoff, VandenBossche and Wright all earned the distinction. Wildcat head coach, Keith Ruberg, was named MCC Coach of the Year.
