JACKSON, Mich. (Men / Women)-- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's cross country team automatically qualified for the NAIA National Championships as the Wildcats won the Mid-Central College Conference Championships in Jackson, Michigan.

The men's team will have to wait and see if they are awarded an at-large big after a second place finish.

The No. 11-ranked women earned the conference title with 49 points, outdistancing runner-up, No. 19-ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) University with 60 points. No. 25-ranked Bethel (Ind.) College finished third with 84 points.

All five runners who scored for Indiana Wesleyan were named All-Conference selections, a distinction for the top-12 runners at the MCC meet.

Sophomore Cassidy Wagner paced the Wildcats with a seventh place finish. Wagner completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:03. The next four Wildcats finished within 11 seconds of each other and took all four spots from nine to 12.

Sophomore Melissa Morgan (19:05) was ninth, senior Christine Bea (19:07) was 10th, sophomore Elyse Hulton (19:15) was 11th and freshman Rebekah Bentle (19:16) was 12th.

Spring Arbor junior Joyce Woki was the individual champion. Woki won the race in a time of 18:29.

On the men's side, No. 8-ranked Huntington (Ind.) University tallied 35 points while No. 21-ranked Indiana Wesleyan was second with 53 points.

Three Wildcats ended the afternoon as All-Conference members. Senior Josh Foss (25:15) was third, senior Bryan Hazel (26:01) was ninth and senior Josh Miller (26:04) was 10th.

Junior Joel Liechty (26:28) was 15th and freshman Ethan Naylor (26:34) was 16th to complete the Indiana Wesleyan scoring.

Senior Nick Johnson from Huntington won the 8,000-meter run in a finishing time of 24:59.

Indiana Wesleyan will next compete in the NCCAA National Championships on Saturday, November 15 in Cedarville, Ohio. The NAIA Nationals will be held on November 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
