
MARION, Ind. -- The Memorial Coliseum at the STAR Financial YMCA reopened its doors on Veteran's Day as Indiana Wesleyan University crushed University of Michigan-Dearborn 87-45 on Tuesday night.
In the first game at the newly remodeled Memorial Coliseum, Indiana Wesleyan held a celebration for veterans of the armed forces.
Approximately 35 veterans attended the game and were honored with a halftime ceremony. Indiana Wesleyan President Dr. Henry Smith and Marion City Council President Reggie Nevels, Sr. welcomed the veterans and thanked them for their service to our country during halftime. Each unit of the military was honored as they stood during a musical rendition.
On the court, the Wildcats never trailed after a stalwart defensive effort. Indiana Wesleyan forced Michigan-Dearborn (0-3) to a putrid 27.1-percent (16 of 59) shooting. IWU also held the Wolves to just 10.0-percent (2 of 20) from beyond the arc.
But on the other end of the court the Wildcats continued to shoot the ball well. IWU made 29-of-50 (58.0-percent) shots, including 10-of-16 (62.5-percent) from deep. 
For the fourth consecutive game Indiana Wesleyan boasted four players in double figure scoring. Junior forward Zach Coverstone led all scorers with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He also pulled down seven boards.
Junior Spencer Harris (14), senior Antonio Murrell (12) and senior guard Jon Moon (11) joined Coverstone in scoring double digits.
IWU held a 15-10 advantage with 6:23 remaining in the first half. But the Wildcats broke open the game in a big way, scoring 72 points in the last 26 minutes of action.
The Wildcats came up big on the boards with a 47-27 advantage. Senior forward Landon Adler grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play in the MCC / WHAC Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Wildcats battle Aquinas (Mich.) College at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 14 and Cornerstone (Mich.) University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 15.
