CEDARVILLE, Ohio (Men's Results, Women's Results) -- Both the Indiana Wesleyan University men's and women's teams placed third at the NCCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.
Indiana Wesleyan won three event championships on the men's side and one in the women's competition.
The women's championship came in the 4 x 200-meter relay. Sophomore Katelin Morgan, senior Kristen Cline, freshman Chelsey Heyne and junior Laura Bowman crossed the line in 1:49.00 to earn 10 points for the Wildcats.
For the men, one relay team and a pair of individuals captured NCCAA championships.
The men's distance medley relay team of senior Bryan Hazel, freshman Eric Brown, junior Dan Carrick and senior Josh Foss won the national championship in a time of 10:21.33. In addition to the title, the relay team set a new record for the Cedarville Field House and the NCCAA national meet.
Two of the relay team members also won in individual events. Foss finished first in the mile run as he completed the race in 4:17.40. Hazel earned a five second win in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:40.83.
Host Cedarville (Ohio) University won the women's meet with 169.5 points, just ahead of runner-up Bethel (Ind.) College with 163. Indiana Wesleyan totaled 95.5 points for third.
Bethel won the men's championship with 149 points and Greenville (S.C.) College was second at 118. Indiana Wesleyan was next with 102 points.
Indiana Wesleyan completes the indoor portion of their schedule as the Wildcats participate in the NAIA National Championship. That meet will be held from March 5-7 at East Tennessee State.
