Head Coach
Coach Foss has led IWU to one NAIA National Champion and 13 NAIA All-Americans. In 2000 he was named NAIA National Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
 

Men's Cross Country Coach (1988- present)

    7 Mid -- Central Conference Championships, 7 MCC Runner-up Finishes 11 NAIA National Qualifying Teams, 3 top 10 finishes
     
Women's Cross Country Coach (1991- present)
    The last 4 Mid-Central Conference Championships
    The Only NAIA Regional Championship
    6 Consecutive NAIA National Qualifying Teams finishing 22nd, 14th, 3rd, 9th and 10th
 
Men's Track & Field Coach (1988 -present)
    12 out of 15 top 2 finishes in the Mid-Central Conference
    1994 NCCAA National Champions
     
Women's Track & Field Coach (1988 -- present)
    2 Mid-Central Conference Championships
    2002 Runner-up in NCCAA National Indoor and Outdoor Track Championships
    Finished 15th in the NAIA Indoor championship and 12th in NAIA Outdoor championships
    Top 4 at NCCAA National Championships in 1998 and 1999
 
Other experiences and achievements:
During his collegiate experience running cross country he was named NAIA All-American in 1979 and 1983.
    1st Vice President of the NAIA Cross Country Coaches Association
    Served as a National Rater from 1991 -- 2000
    2002 NAIA Head Rater for men and women
    USA Track & Field Level II Certified

In 1999 Coach Foss introduced the concept of "Vision" as a motivational force to the cross country program. "Vision" equals recognizing that you have a God-given gift and that if you choose to use it, you should use it responsibly.


Lee Smith
Assistant Coach

Lee has been an assistant coach at IWU since 1985. He is an alumnus of IWU ('80). He earned his master's degree at Duke University in 1984.

 

Lee is a Physical Therapist at The Center Group in Marion.
