Head Coach- 6th Season
Greg Tonagel begins his sixth season at the helm of the Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball team in 2010-11.

During the five seasons that Tonagel has been on campus, the Wildcats have had an amazing turnaround. Indiana Wesleyan is 129-43 under one of the youngest coaches in the nation and has captured the first three MCC regulars season championships and first MCC Tournament championship in program history. Despite being a head coach for only fiveseasons, Tonagel is already second in the program's history in wins.

Prior to Tonagel's hiring, the Wildcats had won seven games and finished last in the Mid-Central College Conference in two straight seasons. Indiana Wesleyan improved by 10 wins under Tonagel's tutelage in his first year on the bench and finished 3rd in the highly competitive MCC. Tonagel was awarded the MCC Coach of the Year for his efforts.

Tonagel's second season was one for the record books in IWU history, as the team recorded 30 wins, captured the school's first MCC regular season championship and reached the NAIA National Tournament for the first time. After advancing to the Elite Eight, the Wildcats were defeated by eventual national champion MidAmerican Nazarene (Kan.). Tonagel had the Wildcats ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and was honored as MCC Coach of the Year for the second season in a row.

Indiana Wesleyan continued its winning ways in Tonagel's third season, finishing with a 23-11 record and winning the NCCAA National Championship. This marked the first time in school history that the Wildcats had recorded two 23-win seasons in a row.

Tonagel's fourth season was another banner year for the Wildcats, as they replicated their regular season Conference Championship and Elite Eight run from two years prior. For the season, the Wildcats finished 29-7, capping off an unprecedented three year run.

Year five under Tonagel brought another Elite Eight appearnace for Indiana Wesleyan and a 30-6 record. An outright MCC title and the first ever MCC Tournament championship was won by the Wildcats. The team broke the program record win streak when IWU won 14 straight.

The Wildcats have built a reputation as a solid defensive team under Tonagel, leading the nation in scoring defense at 59 points per game at the completion of the 2006-07 regular season. The team ranked in the top ten in six defensive categories that season. On the offensive end, the Wildcats employ an up-tempo, aggressive style that utilizes skilled and creative play that has rejuvenated Luckey Arena into a fantastic place to experience a basketball game. Tonagel and his staff have introduced innovative offensive style that players want to be a part of and fans desire to see.

Tonagel is a former Valparaiso (Ind.) University point guard who was known for his hard work and energy. He has brought those characteristics to the Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball program. Tonagel has taken the experience gained from leading the Crusader's to four NCAA tournament appearances and applied them to the Indiana Wesleyan program. Tonagel has made a name for himself when it comes to program building through sound developmental teaching and high caliber recruiting.

Prior to his current position, Tonagel served as Director of Basketball Operations at Valparaiso University, serving on the staff of his mentor Homer Drew. He also led his LaPorte High School team to the last single class state finals in 1997 and was named an Indiana All-Star the following season. Greg and his wife Amy reside in Marion with their 1-year-old son Jace. He is active in a number of organizations and causes, most notably his church.
