NAIA Classic at Brickyard CrossingOne of the highlights of the Spring Wildcat golf season is a tournament that Indiana Wesleyan hosts at the Brickyard Crossing golf course in Indianapolis.
The 2008 tournament will mark the fourth time the NAIA CLASSIC has been played at Brickyard Crossing. This 18-hole championship course designed by famous golf course architect Pete Dye is located on the grounds of the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Brickyard Crossing GC, also is named on Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses" list. There are four holes inside the track itself, which makes the golf course and the tournament atmosphere one that the college player will not forget.
Each April the list of teams include 15 of the top NAIA teams in the country. Each year the field boasts teams from South Carolina, Alabama, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Because it is an "Invitation Only" field, this tournament assembles arguably the finest field top to bottom outside the NAIA National Championship tournament.
I really believe in challenging our players to play against great competition on quality golf courses. This is one way that we have really grown the Wildcat golf program into a national program. It also presents a unique challenge to our players to play at the highest level in preparation for a trip each year to a national championship.
