The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team had another outstanding fall regular season. The Wildcats compiled an 8-0 Mid-Central College Conference regular season record, a 3-0 MCC Tournament record, and an overall dual match record of 13-0. IWU outscored their opponents 105-8 in dual matches.
Indiana Wesleyan stretched their consecutive win streak during the fall regular season to 195 matches dating back to 1995. The overall record for Indiana Wesleyan is now 349-35 since the women's tennis program restarted in 1991.
The Wildcats won the MCC for the 19th consecutive year. All-Conference selections were Lisa Massey, Andrea Meyering, Eva Delk and Lauren Wilson. Terry Porter was voted Coach of the Year.
At the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Indiana Wesleyan dominated both the singles and doubles competition. Three of the final eight in singles (Massey, Meyering and Delk) were from IWU with Lisa Massey as the runner-up out of 45 players. Rachael Heiniger was the consolation champion in singles. Four of the final eight in doubles (Meyering/Wilson, Massey/Delk, McGuire/Lohser and Futrell/Heiniger) were from IWU with Massey and Delk winning the championship. Meyering and Wilson were runner-up out of 23 doubles teams.
Massey and Delk represented the Midwest Region at the ITA National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. They finished seventh with losses to Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University but finished with a win over Evangel (Mo.) University.
Indiana Wesleyan will play a spring season of 14 matches to help prepare them for two national tournaments. The NCCAA and the NAIA national tournaments will both be held in early May at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama. The Wildcats were NCCAA National Champions in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008. This will be the Wildcats' 14th consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championship.
