2011 Fall Season Summary

The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team had another outstanding fall regular season. The wildcats compiled an 8-0 Mid-Central College Conference regular season record, a 3-0 MCC Tournament record and championship, and an overall dual match record of 14-0. IWU outscored their opponents 106-10 in dual matches.

Indiana Wesleyan stretched their consecutive win streak during the fall season to 209 matches dating back to 1995. The overall record is now 374-39 since the women's tennis program was restarted in 1991.

The Wildcats won the MCC regular season title for the 20th consecutive year. All-Conference selections were Rachael Heiniger, Andrea Meyering, and Lauren Wilson.

At the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Indiana Wesleyan was very successful in both single and doubles competition. Three of the final eight in singles (Heiniger, Meyering and Wilson) were from IWU with Heiniger as the runner-up out of 53 players. Kim Mella was the consolation champion in singles. Two of the final eight doubles (Meyering/Wilson and Heiniger/Futrell) were from Indiana Wesleyan. There were 26 team in doubles competitions.

Indiana Wesleyan will play a full spring season schedule to help prepare them for two national tournaments. The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and NAIA national tournament will both be held in early May at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama. The Wildcats were NCCAA national Champions in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008. This will be Indiana Wesleyan's 15th consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tennis Championship.
