Jeff Tyson
Assistant Coach
Tyson enters his second season as the assistant volleyball coach at IWU. He has played an integral role in the outstanding performance the volleyball program has consistently displayed for five years. Jeff quickly earned a reputation as a hard-working, dedicated student manager of which he served for three years.
Tyson began his volleyball career at Elizabethtown Area High School where he competed on the varsity boys volleyball team for two years, starting every match. In his career, he was named team captain for two years, Elizabethtown Chronicle Student Athlete of the week and Lancaster Lebanon League All Star. Jeff also competed on the AAU Club Volleyball program for two years.
After graduating from High School, Jeff attended Indiana Wesleyan University. After his freshmen year he was selected as the manager for the women's volleyball program. "After one week with Jeff I could tell he was an excellent choice," said head coach Candace Moats. "He was knowledgeable, committed to the program, and had an ability to connect with the players on the court as a much respected person." Tyson also earned the highest honor awarded to a team manager by receiving the Caleb Dimmich Award his junior year.
Following graduation in 2007 with a B.S. in Computer Science and Business Administration, Tyson graciously accepted the position as assistant coach. Last year's MCC Conference Player of the Year, Rebekah Reichard says, "I am really looking forward to playing for Jeff as assistant coach! His time spent with our team as manager has shown he is very knowledgeable about the game of volleyball, has a big servant's heart, and really enjoys working with our team. Jeff is a great addition to our coaching staff and I'm so glad he has chosen to stay! IWU volleyball would not be the same without him!"
