Coach George Phares enters his fifth year as an assistant at Indiana Wesleyan University. Phares has been the position coach for All-Conference performers Kory Hollensteiner in 2009 and for Quinn Nofziger in 2010
Phares will work with the outfielders as well as assist with the Wildcat hitters. He came to Indiana Wesleyan after 38 years as a high school head coach. He spent seven years at Morristown and 31 years at Taylor High School. Phares' Taylor team won the Indiana 2A State Championship in 2000 and was 2A State Runner-Up in 2002. Phares was honored as the Class 2A and Hoosier Diamond Coach of the year in 2000.
Phares saw over 40 of his players compete in college baseball and also coached four professional draft picks. Phares was inducted into the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004.
Phares is the proud father of three adult children, Tim, Jennifer and Susan, and he has five grandchildren. He and his wife Martha currently reside in Kokomo.
