The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team signed Tamara Davis as their first recruit for the 2008-09 season.
The Monroe, Ohio native has been named All-League First Team the last two seasons and is a three year letter winner. Davis has hit .494 and .488 the last two seasons with three home runs and 28 stolen bases. She plays outfield and first base for Monroe High School.
“Tamara has an outstanding bat and has led her school and summer league in offense in addition to her outstanding defensive skills. She has played on excellent travel teams in Ohio and has experienced great competition,” said IWU head coach Sue Bowman. “We are looking forward to having her be part of our program.”
Davis holds four Monroe High School records, including total bases (67), slugging percentage (.789) and doubles (12).
“Tamara is exactly the type of athlete we want to be a part of the Indiana Wesleyan softball team,” says Bowman. “She is an outstanding Christian, student-athlete and leader. Tamara will be able to help fill the positions in our outfield which will take place next year due to graduation.”
