Kim Mella has decided to continue her women's tennis career in the fall of 2011 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Mella is from Gurnee, Illinois and played No. 2-Singles for Warren Township High School. Her match record was 27-10 and she won the No. 2-Singles CLC Championships. She also received academic honors and was voted Homecoming Queen.
Previously, Mella was nationally ranked No. 29 in the Philippines Girls 14's. During her junior year of high school, she played for Cocoa Beach (Fla.) High School and they reached the Florida High School Athletic Association State Finals.
"We are very fortunate to have Kim select IWU to further her tennis and academic careers," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Terry Porter. "She is an outstanding tennis player with a lot of tournament experience. Her dad is a tennis pro and the whole family lives and breathes tennis. She has three younger sisters and a younger brother who play at a high level already."
Mella plans on majoring in International Business at Indiana Wesleyan.
