MARION, Ind. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their NAIA Softball All-Region teams and Indiana Wesleyan University led the Great Lakes Region with four selections on the First Team.


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University nearly became the first No. 4-seed to advance out of the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round. But Indiana Wesleyan was defeated 9-0 by No. 1-seed Southeastern (Fla.) in the final game of the Davenport Bracket. The first time in program history that Indiana Wesleyan reached the final game of an opening round bracket.


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- No. 4-seed Indiana Wesleyan University plated four runs in their final at bat to turn a one run deficit into a 6-3 victory over No. 3-seed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.). The win for Indiana Wesleyan moves them to the Davenport Bracket championship against top-seed Southeastern (Fla.) on Wednesday.


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Alex Springer (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind.) launched a two-run home run and Haley Nixon (SO/Bristol, Ind.) went the distance as No. 4-seed Indiana Wesleyan University defeated No. 2-seed Davenport (Mich.) 4-1 in a NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round elimination game in Grand Rapids, Michigan. IWU and No. 3-seed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) play later tonight with the winner going to the Davenport Bracket title game.
